Path of Exile Item Upgrades

The performance of a variety of Path of Exile items can be improved by upgrading their performance. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment can be superior to modernized Common or Magic gear because of their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be applied to weapon and armor items. They boost the performance of the item upgrader mod that they're connected to. Armor upgrades are found in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using an expert or higher salvage kits to recover upgrades from the items.

The amount of damage an armored item or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the extent of its upgrades. The absorption of damage by an item of armor will increase when it is upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. However, it's important to keep in mind that this will increase its weight, which will cause it to be heavier than it was before.

There are several kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have distinct effects. Certain upgrades grant armor an additional number of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item upgrade can receive will be identified by the name of the upgrade as illustrated in the table below.

A few upgrades also feature magic or a mix of technology and magic, which is shown by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Certain upgrades also require fees for use. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either updated daily or never expire depending on the upgrade.

The cheapest method to upgrade armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be found by exploring the environment and looting minor loot chests. Titanium is more expensive but it can be obtained through smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can give players a significant increases in stats and are definitely worth the investment.

The process of upgrading an armor piece to its maximum upgrade level will greatly increase its defense values but the wearer must be aware that increasing its weight will drastically reduce its speed and agility. This is why it is typically not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces beyond +9, because the increase in defense is generally not worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades needed.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of certain aspects of the weapon. For instance an upgrade can enhance the damage caused by the shells of a shotgun or the accuracy of the rifle that snipes. Some weapons also have special upgrades that improve their innate capabilities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, reduces the risk of weapon overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed to cause more damage) are two examples.

The majority of upgrades to weapons require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be obtained by completing Side Quests or killing a certain amount of monsters and bosses.

To upgrade the weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade, you must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain number of Bars. The more bars required to complete an upgrade the more advanced the level. If you have multiple upgrade materials, the cost of upgrading will be less.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets changed a little. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a specific amount of Bars. You could do this until you reached the max upgrade level of the equipment or weapon, after which the upgrades would reset.

This is still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. Instead, you're better off going to stores and buying equipment with low upgrade levels, but good base scores and stat distributions. These will be able to give you the Best item upgrader tier of bonuses and blessings.

Most players will want to prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they are most likely to use to help them level up faster. Additionally players, they should think about upgrading the weapons that are most popular with their teammates to make them more powerful and effective. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to enhance its effectiveness when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are placed in the armor's sockets and weapons, enhancing the stats of a weapon and providing additional effects. They can be made through a process called jewelry crafting, where you combine a gem and several ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the grade of the gemstone has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and, sometimes, by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The Jeweler can improve the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. Based on the tier of the gem, it will provide a different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.

All tiers of jewels can be made at the Jeweler, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a certain level to qualify for these. Unlike other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped with another jewel of the same type without damaging it. You can only replace the gem only once in a piece of equipment.

It is typical to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. Jewels also enhance performance and make a harder surface than metal so that repeated friction from pivots do not damage them.

In addition to the above upgrades, the player can also get glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These are a small perk and are able to be swapped easily but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs, just like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Trinkets

Trinkets can be used to provide your hero with various small, but valuable advantages. They can be acquired starting in the beginning areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, and by completing road interactions. They may also be crafted by jewelers and later found or purchased from the Trading Post.

The first trinket a player will be able to unlock is the cloak. It grants a small but beneficial boost in speed of movement and evasion. After that, they'll be able to acquire rings, amulets, and necklaces in the same fashion to how the player obtains armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that can accept either a universal or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any equipment. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and are only compatible with certain trinkets.

These trinkets can also grant buffs and skills that are active whenever the hero is not in combat. This enables the hero to perform better when they are not active and may also help fill in the void of a strong team or the absence of any slots in the talent tree that normally are filled with the hero's ideal statistics.

In general trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace anytime soon. Then, you should consider any items that have desirable statistics are less significant than the iLevel for the item upgrader kit that is to be upgraded. This is particularly true if an item has multiple stats that you wish to upgrade, as it's usually more beneficial to upgrade one important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.

In the beginning of the game players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their yellow trinket to a red, while top and mid players usually choose the pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices can impact the hero's ability to manage the map.

Aside from the items mentioned above, players can find other trinkets throughout the game in the form of trophies and awards. These can be earned through completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, completing the main quest for a chapter or beating the boss.
