Window Sash Repairs

Regularly inspect the window sashes for any damage, mildew and mold. By catching problems before they become serious you can save money on repairs in the future.

The sash is the internal frame that is vertically moved either up or down in windows that open. This article will show you how to perform several simple sash repair.

Weather Stripping

Wood window sashes add a classic aesthetic to your home. When properly maintained, they will last for many years. They can, however, be damaged or degraded over time due to exposure or normal wear. However, sash repair experts can bring your windows back to their original condition and maintain their appearance for much longer than newer replacement windows.

Weather stripping is the primary issue to take care of when fixing windows that have sash. It's located on both the frame and the sash. It can cause drafts if worn or loose. Start by identifying the brand of window and the date of manufacture for the glass (etched on the glass's corner or the aluminum spacers between panes). Then, take the sash off and mark its height and width, so you can find replacement weather stripping to match.
