There are simple steps that you can follow to replace your Volvo key fob battery on your own. First, locate a clear work area to carry out the process. Set out all the tools you will need. Then, locate the battery hatch, and turn it open using a flathead, a coin, or a similar tool. Then, carefully remove the battery from its socket by lifting it up on the side that is closest to the key-ring loop. Be sure to wear rubber gloves to avoid damaging the clips or electronic contact surfaces.

After the battery has been removed, put the new one in its socket. Make sure that the positive side is facing upwards and that it's seated in all of the clips. Then, slide the cover back down and toward the key-ring loop until it is loose and falls off. Take off the cover to reveal the hidden mechanical key blade. It can be used to unlock your car from the driver's door when you've lost or damaged your key fob.

How to Start Your Vehicle
